A group exhibition of artists from Slovakia and the United States, whose work reflects on the position of female painters in contemporary art. The show features work by: Jenn Dierdorf, Kelsey Shwetz, Kris Rac, Sahana Ramakrishnan,  Katarína Janečková Walshe,  Margaréta Petržalová,  Natália Okolicsányiová and Juliana Mrvová.

The exhibition presents works by 4 Slovak artists who, on a predominantly personal basis, explore their place as female (not only) artists on the European and American art scene. The woman painter replaced the stove with an easel and canvas and shows us her personal life or paints characters she presents as distinctive female heroes. Personal stories connect Petržalová, Okolicsányiová, and Mrvová, who strongly realize their female position. Katarína Janečková Walshe adds a new reality – to be both a mother and a painter and connects the American and Slovak part of the exhibition not only formally but also on the basis of personal friendships that are important for the creation of community and creative confrontation. The project is a follow-up to the initiative of Kelsey Shwetz and Jenn Dierdorf, who host Lady Painters meetings in New York (Janečková Walshe and Mrvová participated), creating a network of female painters and contacts. The meetings lead to further collaboration and also present an opportunity to analyze specific issues of painting and female art. Such a meeting – a presentation will take place during the exhibition in Bratislava with the participation of American and Slovak artists. In the creation of 4 American painters, we often see a woman reflecting on her body or sexuality, especially with Kelsey Shwetz or Sahana Ramakrishnan. Jenn Dierdorf persistently paints flower still lives, which are the pretext for reviewing her position as a female painter, who until recently, wasn’t expected to be able to paint anything but flowers in a vase. Kris Rac examines the social situation of young people and remains critical both in political themes (Trump’s rallies) and in the topics of sexuality, violence, and addiction. THIS IS KEVIN is an electronic music project founded in Slovakia in 1991. The main founder and leader of the project is Roman Ferianc. The band released its debut album Slowly to the Sun in 1999. The lead single from the album, a track “to Pasteur” uses samples of voices from a TV series about the life and work of Louise Pasteur. The official music video for the track was broadcast on the British and German version of music channel MTV. The latest 6th album called DEEP was released in 2018.
